At Matilda, traditional techniques are used by pattern makers and craftsmen who have been making high-quality clothing for decades. The majority of our garments are made in the heart of Melbourne and from every angle that we can, we keep it local. Each garment is brought to life one piece at a time, free of compromise.

Local production is important to us. Keeping a close eye on every detail means that each garment is treated with the respect and attention it deserves. Fast-fashion and over-production has inspired us to do things differently - to make clothing sustainably. We make small runs of each piece so each garment remains a rarity.

Slow fashion encourages us to buy less garments at higher quality, made from more sustainable fabrics and processes, less often. It also has an emphasis on the art of clothes making and celebrates the skills of the craftspeople who make them.
